The Foureye (*Morokotoform duplex*) is a small aggressive predator found at shallow depths of 0–100m in Subnautica 2. This creature's defining trait is that it is always born as identical twins — two individual fish that pair belly-to-belly, fusing their digestive and nervous systems to function as a single four-eyed organism.

Each individual "two-eye" has large pectoral fins suited for quick maneuvers and squashed eyes optimized for upward vision, suggesting an ambush-from-below hunting strategy. When paired into a duplex through modified ventral suckers, the two share nutrients through an embryonic yolk stalk and exchange sensory data through nerve clusters in the skin. The duplex form deals 5 damage per bite from two separate attack sources, making it a persistent nuisance in shallow waters.
With a sight range of 5,500 units — unusually high for a small creature — Foureyes detect targets at distances rivaling much larger predators. Their aggression is unpredictable: the duplex form willingly attacks species larger than itself, though whether this represents territorial defense, pack instinct, or play behavior remains unclear.
Tips & Strategy
Foureyes deal only 5 damage per bite, but their 5,500-unit sight range means they detect you from extreme distance. In shallow waters at 0–100m, expect multiple Foureye encounters on any dive.
If you see a solitary two-eyed fish swimming erratically with occasional seizures, avoid it — solitary Foureyes are ill or mourning and their behavior is unpredictable. They are not safer than paired ones.
The duplex Foureye attacks from two bite sources simultaneously. While each hit is only 5 damage, the rapid double-strikes add up during extended encounters. Don't ignore them just because individual hits seem minor.
Foureyes use quick pectoral fin maneuvers rather than sustained cruising. Sharp lateral movements can break their pursuit — they excel at ambush, not chase.
Foureyes are among the first aggressive fauna new players encounter in shallow water. Use early encounters to practice dodge timing and threat assessment before venturing into deeper zones with deadlier creatures.
