Copper
MineRawOverview
Copper is the foundation of all electrical systems in Subnautica 2, required in 22 crafting recipes that cover batteries, wiring, power generation, and electronic components. This soft, highly conductive metal spawns at depths from the surface down to 250m, placing it firmly in the early-to-mid game resource tier that players need to establish before progressing to advanced technology.

Tips & Strategy
Copper feeds directly into Basic Batteries (2 copper each) and Copper Wire (2 copper each), which are intermediate components for dozens of advanced recipes. Keep both intermediates pre-crafted in your base storage.
At 0–250m depth, copper is shallower than gold (0–500m) or celestine (250–500m). You can farm copper efficiently in the same early-game dives where you collect titanium and quartz.
The Fabricator requires copper to build. If you are setting up a secondary base or outpost, bring copper with you or you will not be able to establish local crafting capability.
Look for copper deposits on cave ceilings and under rocky overhangs. The in-game scan tips note that bacterial action deposits copper in dark, sheltered areas — these environmental clues match actual spawn placement.
A single Hydroelectric Turbine needs 3 copper. If you plan to build turbine-based power infrastructure, budget at least 9–12 copper for a basic power grid before you start construction.
