Lead
MineRawOverview
Lead is a dense, specialized resource in Subnautica 2 found exclusively in the Coral Gardens biome at depths from the surface to 200m. While only used in 3 crafting recipes, lead serves critical roles in radiation shielding and chemical synthesis that make it essential for specific progression milestones.

Tips & Strategy
Lead Node drop rates decrease per node: 100%, 40%, then 25%. A Sonic Resonator yields 3–5 lead per deposit with guaranteed drops — the efficiency difference is massive.
The Sonic Resonator costs 2 lead to build, and you need the resonator to farm lead efficiently. Break Lead Nodes by hand for your initial 2 lead, then build the resonator to unlock efficient farming for all resources.
Lead spawns only in the Coral Gardens at 0–200m depth — the shallowest restriction of any metal. You never need deep-dive equipment to farm lead, making it an easy early-game target.
Look for large dangling kelp formations in the Coral Gardens — the in-game scan tip suggests kelp may thrive on organolead chemistry, and these visual landmarks correlate with nearby lead deposit spawns.
Germanium from Lead (2 lead per germanium) is one of two germanium sources, the other being Germanium from Silver (2 silver). Compare your lead and silver stockpiles to choose the most efficient conversion path.
