Salt (sodium chloride, also known as halite or rock salt) is a versatile resource in Subnautica 2 with applications spanning food preservation, water purification, power storage, and alternative glass production. Found in the Coral Gardens biome at depths from the surface down to 400m, salt serves both survival and construction needs throughout the game.

Tips & Strategy
Salt is the only resource consumed continuously through food and water recipes. Unlike metals used once for construction, you need a permanent salt supply chain — plan regular Coral Gardens farming runs.
Power Cells require 1 salt each. Before long exploration trips, check that you have enough salt to craft replacement Power Cells for your vehicle, or you risk being stranded with dead batteries.
Glass from Salt (2 salt) is an alternative to Glass from Quartz (2 quartz). If you find salt more abundant than quartz in your base area, switch your glass supply chain to salt-based production.
Salt spawns from 0m to 400m in the Coral Gardens, overlapping with lead (0–200m) and lithium (0–250m). Combine salt farming with runs for these other Coral Gardens resources to maximize dive efficiency.
Food recipes (Halfmoon Jerky, Hoverthorn Souvlaki, Urchin Pudding, Nutrient Blocks) each consume 1 salt. Keep a minimum of 10 salt in your base kitchen storage to avoid running short between farming trips.
