Celestine
MineRawOverview
Celestine is a rare deep-sea mineral in Subnautica 2 that serves as the primary source of radioactive strontium. Found exclusively in the Observatory Ruins biome at depths between 250m and 500m, celestine is the only resource in the game with a minimum depth requirement — you will never encounter it in shallow water. This deep-only distribution makes celestine a true late-game resource that demands proper depth equipment before farming begins.

Tips & Strategy
Celestine Nodes yield 3 per hand-break versus an average of 2 from resonator processing of standard deposits. For celestine specifically, hand-breaking nodes can be more efficient than using the Sonic Resonator.
The Tadpole Depth Module Mk 1 costs 3 celestine but lets you dive deeper to farm more celestine. Break this bootstrap problem by making a careful first dive to 250–300m with maximum oxygen to collect your initial 3 celestine.
Celestine spawns only at 250–500m in the Observatory Ruins — the deepest minimum depth of any resource. Ensure your vehicle and oxygen supply can sustain a 250m+ dive before planning a celestine farming run.
The Modification Station requires 2 celestine, locking all equipment upgrades behind deep-sea mining. Prioritize celestine collection as soon as you can safely reach 250m to unlock the upgrade path early.
Celestine shares the Observatory Ruins with gold (0–500m), silver (0–450m), sulfur (0–450m), and quartz (0–500m). A single deep Observatory Ruins expedition can yield all five resources — plan multi-resource runs to maximize each risky dive.
