Gold is a rare, high-value resource in Subnautica 2 used in advanced electronics and specialized crafting. Found in the Coral Gardens and Observatory Ruins biomes at depths ranging from the surface down to 500m, gold occupies the mid-to-late game resource tier — accessible in small quantities early but requiring deep dives for reliable farming.

Tips & Strategy
Gold Deposits resonated with a Sonic Resonator yield 3–5 gold per node, while Gold Nodes broken by hand yield 2–3. Resonating deposits is still more efficient per node, especially the 5-yield variant.
The Thermal Plant consumes 3 gold per unit, making it the single most gold-expensive recipe. If you plan to use thermal power, stockpile at least 6–9 gold before committing to construction.
Gold converts to silver at a 1:1 ratio via the Silver from Gold recipe. If you have excess gold but need silver for Wiring Kits or the Standard Air Tank, use this conversion instead of hunting silver deposits separately.
Observatory Ruins has the highest gold deposit density but also the deepest spawns (200–500m). Equip a Tadpole Depth Module and bring extra oxygen before farming gold in this biome.
Gold and sulfur combine in two recipes — Advanced Wiring Kit and Strong Acid. Farming both resources in the same dive in the Observatory Ruins saves significant travel time since both spawn in this biome.
